SwitchStance is a high energy ska/punk/metal band from Bulgaria. Their sound is raw and real, something like Operation Ivy and the original Dance Hall Crashers double date Corrupted Morals and the Cromags.

With their two vocalists, driving rhythm section, skank'n guitar and a tight little horn section, Switchstance puts on a great show that really makes the crowd go crazy! I haven't been to Bulgaria to see them play live but I have seen the video of their shows, and what I saw and heard was wild, especially the back stage footage. LoudRockMusic.com is proud to present the newest CD release by SwitchStance. Order now!

Now here is the story of this band and their country written by SwitchStance.

Little facts about Bulgaria

Bulgaria is located on the Balkan Peninsula in Eastern Europe. Never mind we are not members of the European Union, we are still a part of the European map.
In the late 18th century. Bulgaria was released from the Ottoman Empire by the Russians. Over 500 years Bulgaria was struggling the invasion of the Turks. After 70 years as a free country Bulgaria became a part of the Communistic Block, along with other countries from Eastern Europe. 45 years later the Soviet Union fall a part, along with the Communistic Block.
Nowadays Bulgaria is still suffering the consequences of the Soviet regime and it’s trying to find a good way to make the change from Socialism to Capitalism.
Those were only some negative facts from our history.

Story of Switchstance

Switchstance was formed in the winter of 2000 in Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria). Most of the members are not good musicians. As many people say the most important thing of making music is to “enjoy it” for sure we stand behind those words.
In the beginning SwitchStance was only four- member band (Ivo-drums, Gele-bass, Nakata-guitar and Kim-voc.) We wanted to play something between Operation ivy and Beastie boys. We think that it worked out but it was a little different.
After a while Nakata left for some reason. Then we got Boris to play the guitar, he was more into hardcore so our style became faster. Later on, we got Stefcho to play the trumpet and Bojo as a second voc. and the first live show, knocked at the door.
Of course our performance was terrible and all of us were stocked like stones, but people were jumping around and having good time, we were so happy about it cause that gave us a lot of stimulation to continue forwards.
Later Boris and Stefcho left the band and the problem with the guitarist arrived again. Then we found Ivan to play the guitar. Nobody ever understood how he got into the band, and this is still a big mystery. At that time, he did not play guitar very good but his enthusiastic skills were turned into the maximum and he started to learn very fast.
After a while, we got a Horne Section and a second guitarist. Vlado (trumpet) , Jivko (trombone) and Kempeto (second guitar ) became a part of the band. From that moment, everything has changed. Our music has began to sound much different and we started to do the music we always wanted to do, mainly Ska, Punk and Metal in one.
Nowadays we are still waiting to release our first demo album, which recording has started
In the beginning of 2001 and we hope it’s going to be out in the late 2004. The main reason for that un-released material is cause we have to do everything on our own, even the mixing and mastering, but we don’t care how it will sound at the end cause the real fun was during the recordings.

Today we are making live shows almost every month and the interest of the people is growing very fast. The reason for that might be, cause we are the only ska band around or just because we always got problems to decide which song is next. So If you have ever come to Sofia at some show and you’ve noticed problems with the equipment, for sure this is Switchstance.
